Entrepreneur Advisors is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to become the firm’s primary technical tax leader. This person will own the quality and final review of our tax planning and compliance work, ensuring that customized tax plans are technically sound, implemented appropriately, and accurately reflected in timely filed tax returns.
Entrepreneur Advisors uses a planning-first advisory model. Tax planning is the core of what we do, and tax-return preparation serves as the final verification that approved strategies were properly implemented and reported. We are not building a high-volume compliance factory. We provide proactive, customized tax advisory services to growth-minded business owners and hold ourselves to high standards of technical accuracy, professionalism, clarity, and client care.
This position is designed for an accomplished tax professional who wants to advance through technical mastery, sound judgment, team leadership, and ownership of high-quality work. It is not primarily a sales, business-development, or day-to-day client relationship role. The Tax Manager will collaborate closely with our client relationship team while leading the technical delivery process.
The initial priority will be assuming responsibility for the detailed review of individual and closely held business returns. Over an intentional calibration period, the Tax Manager will progress to serving as the firm’s primary signing preparer and technical authority.
Perform the final technical review of federal and state tax returns, primarily Forms 1040, 1065, and 1120-S, with less frequent Forms 1120, 1041, and 990
Reconcile each tax return to the applicable tax plan and confirm that approved strategies were properly implemented and reported
Identify and resolve discrepancies between planned outcomes, actual implementation, and completed tax returns
Research technical questions, evaluate alternatives, and reach well-supported conclusions
Direct necessary corrections and ensure returns are complete, accurate, documented, and ready to file
Progress through a defined calibration period toward becoming the firm’s primary signing preparer
Serve as a primary internal technical resource for tax questions
Review and guide the work of a three-to-five-person production team
Coach team members and improve the quality of work reaching final review
Document important technical conclusions, recurring issues, and review standards
Collaborate with the client relationship team to ensure technical decisions and client expectations remain aligned
Remain current on relevant tax-law developments and proactively evaluate their effect on the firm’s clients
Success in this position means:
Tax returns are technically accurate, timely filed, and consistent with each client’s tax plan
Material differences between planned and actual outcomes are identified, investigated, and resolved before filing
Returns reach final review substantially complete, with prior preparation and staff-review issues already addressed
Routine technical questions and return-review decisions no longer require the founder’s involvement
Technical judgments and consequential decisions are clearly documented
Preparers and staff reviewers demonstrate measurable improvement in accuracy, judgment, and independence
The client relationship team receives clear technical information and can communicate confidently with clients
The firm delivers excellent, customized tax work without becoming dependent on any single person
At least seven years of recent tax-firm experience, with eight to twelve years preferred
Substantial experience performing detailed reviews of complex Forms 1040, 1065, and 1120-S
Strong understanding of taxation affecting closely held businesses and their owners
Experience reviewing and directing work prepared by other tax professionals
Active CPA or Enrolled Agent credential
Active PTIN and the ability to progress into primary signing responsibility
Excellent technical judgment, critical thinking, and research abilities
Ability to identify when additional information, specialist input, or escalation is necessary
Clear written and verbal communication
Ability to coach team members without taking their work back from them
High standards of accuracy, integrity, accountability, and professional judgment
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and technical matters without extensive oversight
Interest in learning and mastering Entrepreneur Advisors’ planning-first delivery model
A client-advocacy mindset that asks, “How can this be done correctly?” before defaulting to “no”, seeking lawful, well-supported strategies while maintaining technical rigor, sound risk judgment, and professional integrity.
Candidates do not need experience in an identical planning-first firm. They should, however, be excited about connecting planning, implementation, and compliance into one complete technical process.
The firm is currently located in Orem, Utah, and expects meaningful in-person collaboration during onboarding.
An in-office or hybrid arrangement is preferred after onboarding. Remote work may be considered for an exceptional candidate with demonstrated experience operating independently as a senior reviewer and technical leader.
The anticipated base salary range is $125,000–$165,000, depending on experience and demonstrated readiness to assume independent technical and signing authority. Additional performance-based compensation may be available.
This position is designed to grow in technical authority, leadership scope, and compensation as the firm expands. Potential advancement includes firm-wide technical leadership or technical leadership of a future service pod.
This creates a meaningful senior career path for a tax professional who wants to grow through technical expertise, quality ownership, team development, and economic responsibility without being required to become a salesperson or primary relationship manager.
We help entrepreneurs build secure, long-term wealth by delivering proactive, honest, and clear guidance that reduces taxes and increases financial stability and confidence.
Advocacy & Integrity
We operate with integrity and honesty. We own our mistakes and refuse to over‑promise. We never recommend strategies or referrals for hidden commissions, and we avoid risky 'zero tax' gimmicks that undermine long-term wealth. Our guidance is unbiased, client-centered, and focused on true financial freedom.
Client‑First Experience
Client experience is paramount. Our job is to lift a load off our clients. We meet clients with understanding, not judgment, and create a smooth, easy, and exceptional experience—even when it’s less convenient for us. We are selective about who we work with, but once someone is a client, they receive respect, appreciation, and white‑glove service.
Elite Communication
We strive to be elite communicators. Internally, everyone knows where they stand, how they contribute, and where they can grow. Externally, clients clearly understand what we’re doing, when, and why. We communicate proactively, translate complexity into clarity, and take responsibility for ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
No Jerks
We only work with people we enjoy - team and clients alike. We expect kindness, accountability, positivity, and self‑motivation. We uplift each other and avoid negativity, drama, rudeness, or chronic pessimism. A great workplace is part of the win.
Living Firm
We are building a business that improves and evolves like a healthy organism. The firm should grow, adapt, and operate independently of any one person - including the founder. Our systems, culture, and incentives are designed so the firm thrives even if someone steps away for a month, a year, or forever.
